Ok,today i would like to touch on this subject,Sensitive skin!!
Do you have it?? Do you know in Singapore,1 in five people suffer from dehydrated and/or itchy skin? (Based on Nielsen 2010 Omnibus study)
Dry skin is due to poor epidermal function and damage to the skin barrier film resulting in increased water loss from the skin -called transepidermal water loss (TEWL). This can occur when harsh products are used on the skin eg,antibacterial soaps,or when the skin is iritated by ingredients in skin care cosmetics eg.fragrance,alcohol.
Some of the common culprits of skin dehydration are as follow
- Dry air from air conditioning
- Prolonged exposure to heat
- and the use of harsh cleansing agents.
- frequent washing or scrubbing
I did not have to worry about eczema or sensitive skin until Bryston got it... When he was a baby up till 10months of age,he never has any issue with any brand of baby soap we used on him.
Until when we touched down in USA...wow everything just hit him... he got mild eczema...
Ok this is when we are still in Singapore...smooth silky baby skin..
And this when we reach USA....you can see that his cheek and forehead look abit red with some rough patches...I was sad!!!!
I tried almost all the brand of cleansing agents (except for sebamed, physiogel, cetaphil) or moisturizer...it just did not help...
Sometime you can see him scratching here and there before dozing off to sleep...It actually frustrates me. I could not be applying steroid ointment that was given from the pd all the time...
Something has to be done....
So fast forward abit...when we return back to Singapore, his skin was slightly better but he have itches at localised areas like knees and elbow.
So i have decided to give Sebamed a try... his skin took a turn... it was better and smoother. However the problem did not go away...
So with thanks to tickled media,Bernard,i got to know that there are some Physiogel products to try.
I was so happy that i immediately replied the email asking for a chance to receive the products to try on!!

His elbow.

My cheeky Bryston who is so cooperative when i ask him to help me pose with the products... ;)
Telling him to give me the look that shows the goodness of Physiogel... haha
So what you see here is the Physiogel cream that is recommended to be applied on the face and other parts of body that are dry. Just have to apply a thin film once or twice daily.May be used more often if necessary. So i use it on specific problem areas after the Physiogel lotion have been used.
